Hibs record transfer sales and where might Kevin Nisbet and Josh Doig fit in?

Hibs record transfer sale remains Scott Brown's £4.4m move to Celtic in 2007.

However, with a number of players currently on the Easter Road books coveted by teams with deep pockets, could there be a new name at the top of that list by the end of the summer transfer window?

Birmingham City already failed in a bid to land Kevin Nisbet in January, with Hibs turning down a £3m offer for their top scorer, prompting a transfer request which could yet see the star striker leave the club just 12 months into a four-year deal.

The 24-year-old has since gone on to make his Scotland breakthrough, scoring his first international goal against the Netherlands, and featuring in all three Euro 2020 matches as a substitute, increasing his value to the point where it could take a record bid to prize him from Easter Road.

Hibs also turned down a seven-figure approach from Millwall for centre-back Ryan Porteous in January, while Watford have been credited with preparing a £4m move for teenage left back Josh Doig, with Arsenal and Celtic also reportedly keeping tabs on the youngster.

Should all three players depart this summer – and there’s no suggestion they will with Hibs owner Ron Gordon insisting the club does not want or need to sell – then the 2021 summer window could be Hibs’ most lucrative ever.

That’s before you factor in the potential financial windfall should John McGinn’s reported £50m move from Aston Villa to Liverpool materialise with Hibs due 15 per cent of any sale.
