The win at Alliance Park on Saturday was just the outcome manager Robbie Horn was looking for ahead of the Kelty clash.

Dean Brett smashed the ball into the top corner to give the visitors the lead eight minutes before the half-time interval but the hosts hit back almost immediately when David Sinclair’s wind-assisted free-kick caught out goalkeeper Mark Weir in the Rose goal.

In a quite frantic end to the first half, Rose restored their lead as Ewan Moyes guided in Lee Currie’s free-kick.

Sinclair restored parity once more with his second of the afternoon from outside the box 11 minutes after the restart.

However, with 13 minutes remaining, Currie’s cross into the box fell kindly for Daniel Baur and the on-loan Hearts defender volleyed home the winner.

Second-half goals from Calum Smith and Hamish Thomson consigned the students to their 17th league defeat of a disappointing campaign.

Dorian Ogunro’s men remain in 14th spot, just three points better off than bottom club Vale of Leithen.
