Duddingston qualified for this weekend's Inter-Cities Cup match by winning the Edinburgh Summer League for the second year in a row.

The match pits the winners of the Edinburgh Summer League against the triumphant team in the Boundary Bell at the other end of the M8.

Duddingston came out on top by 6.5-2.5 at Hilton Park 12 months ago and team captain Gordon Milligan said his players are relishing the rematch.

“The Duddingston boys are in determined mood to retain the trophy,” he said, pointing out that the result last year was closer than the result reflected with eight of the nine matches reaching the 17th hole.

“We will face a strong challenge from our opponents from the west who won the Boundary Bell for the second consecutive year.

“They have a couple of ex-Scottish Internationals in their squad, however we have real strength in depth and a strong resolve within the team.”
