Marathon running: Edinburgh man shows it's never too late to start
Scott MacDonald laced up his runners for the first time in his 50s and is now heading to Chicago and Boston to compete at a world-class level.
Scott is not your typical marathon runner. At 54 years old, while most people his age are slowing down looking forward to retirement, Scott is just getting started.
Scott, an Edinburgh native, made a life-changing decision to sell his taxi business and set off for Canada. There he along with his business partner established an independent shop in 2016, specialising in the Jaguar and Land Rover brands and located in Ottawa Ontario - all before he turned 50.
At the age of 51 while looking for a new challenge and wanting to take care of his physical heath he started training, first for a local 5k run, then he was hooked and started training regularly with his best friend Sully, a Belgian Malinois mix German shepherd.

In only his second year of marathon running Scott was placed first in his age group and 7th overall at the Commanders Challenge Army run.
Scott is now heading to the Chicago marathon, one of the six world marathons he has qualified for, with the Boston marathon next year.
Scott has a clear message: "It's never too late to chase a new dream, to push boundaries and surprise yourself with what you can accomplish if you put your mind to it."
