The Tartan Tornado was given a huge boost ahead of his World Title unification fight in Las Vegas – after German Doner Kebab organised a surprise catch-up with his family.

The Scottish IBF and WBA Super-Lightweight World Champion Josh Taylor is bidding to make history this Saturday evening when he faces Jose Ramirez to be crowned the first undisputed unified British champion in the four belt era.

The fight will be shown live in the UK on FITE TV, ESPN and ESPN+.

Taylor’s mum Diane, dad Jamie, sister Finch and fiancée Danielle are not able to be ringside on fight night due to COVID-19 travel restrictions.

But the Scottish boxing sensation was completely blown away when they, along with other relatives, appeared via video link from German Doner Kebab’s restaurant in Edinburgh to wish him the best of luck ahead of the biggest fight of his life.

Taylor, who recently launched a brand partnership with German Doner Kebab, said: “I can’t thank German Doner Kebab enough for organising such an incredible moment with my family, they are my biggest fans and it has really cheered me up and given me a huge boost in fight week.”

In the video Taylor's fiancée orders the champ to “keep his hands” up and sends her love to one of the most exciting boxers this country has ever seen.

His father spoke of how his son was always destined to become a world champion - he is in no doubt that Taylor will return victorious.

Whereas his mum and sister wished him all the best and reminisced over Josh writing “World Champion” on post-it notes as if he was a nostradamus already aware of his future fait.

And of course a constant theme throughout was that of family members saying they will have a “good knees up” when Taylor returns unified world light-welterweight champion.
