Won last year by Thailand’s Kiradech Aphibarnrat, ticket prices for the Match Play event heve been kept low - an adult day ticket costs £15 with under-18s getting in free - in a bid to encourage families to spend a day out at the event.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for golf supporters to see two generations of golfing professionals on one of Scotland’s finest links courses in the space of three weeks.” said Lawrie of the ticket offer.

“We have teamed up with the Senior Tour so that adults who attend the Match Play will enjoy free entry to the Prostate Cancer UK Scottish Senior Open event later in the month.

“The Prostate Cancer UK Scottish Senior Open is a superb event with a high-quality field and the supporters will learn a lot from watching both events.”

The Prostate Cancer UK Scottish Senior Open is being held for a second time at Archerfield Links, where England’s Paul Broadhurst triumphed on his over-50s debut last summer.

“The Prostate Cancer UK Scottish Senior Open follows hard on the heels of the Paul Lawrie Match Play, and we are pleased to be able to offer free admission to anyone who has attended Paul’s event earlier in the month,” said Andy Stubbs, the European Senior Tour’s managing director.

“This tremendous initiative rewards the loyalty of the Scottish golfing public to our tournaments and will enable the public to see the best of the generations in East Lothian.”

In order to qualify for free admission, adult spectators must retain their ticket from the Paul Lawrie Match Play or show proof of purchase on the gate at the Prostate Cancer UK Scottish Senior Open.
