Rugby: Boroughmuir bolster their line-up by signing Cooney and Johnstone

Boroughmuir have today swooped to bolster their
squad after an opening-day defeat in the Scottish rugby
Premiership.

The Meggetland club used social media today to announce they had signed former Kelso and Melrose prop Kieran Cooney while also joining is Cameron Johnstone, a winger who has represented Blaydon and the Newcastle Falcons
academy.

It is not thought either player will turn out in tomorrow’s match at Aberdeen as Boroughmuir bid to shrug aside an
earlier loss to Ayr.

The arrival of Cooney means a player who has captained Scotland students as well as sharing in trophy successes with Melrose. He will also provide experience in a position where Boroughmuir have some outstanding young talent such as Robbie Wilson.
