Rugby: Player gong for McInally

Versatile back-rower Stuart McInally will go into action for Edinburgh tomorrow against Munster in Limerick boosted by his latest individual honour.

The 22-year-old, who is closing in on a first Scotland cap this Autumn, has been recognised with the latest Hotel Du Vin/Malmaison Edinburgh Player of the Month award.

Last season McInally kicked off the Heineken European Cup with a try and man-of-the-match prize in the away win at London Irish but this season’s competition hasn’t started so well after losing 0-45 to Saracens at home.

Affirming his desire to get Edinburgh back on track in a match which will see him switch from No.8 to open-side flanker McInally summed up the Saracens defeat, saying: “I feel for the fans. They stuck it out to the end and I feel sorry for them having to watch that.”
