Groom, 31, made 22 appearances after joining in 2019 from South African side Lions. Edinburgh say he will “see out the season in England”.

His departure was expected after Edinburgh signed scrum-half Ben Vellacott from Wasps earlier this year, with Henry Pyrgos and Charlie Shiel also vying for the No 9 jersey.

Kitchen, 27, will return to his native Australia having made two appearances since joining from Ayrshire Bulls last June.
