Edinburgh Rugby are still in discussions aimed at finding potential new venues for home fixtures, but any use of Easter Road is currently on the 'backburner'.

Scottish Rugby chief executive Mark Dodson stated last summer that he hoped the BT Murrayfield-based outfit could play a couple of matches at Hibs’ ground this season.

That has not come to fruition and Edinburgh managing director Jonny Petrie said: “It is not a live discussion with Hibs at the minute, it is a bit on the backburner.

“I am not ruling it out completely, but there are not any discussions going on. It has been no secret that we look at potential other venues. We continue to look at our options and enter into discussions. It is a focus for me to try and progress this and find the right solution for us.”

Edinburgh played matches at Easter Road in 1998/99.
