Jim Duffy denies offering Neil Lennon a '˜square go'

Morton manager Jim Duffy has denied that he asked Hibs boss Neil Lennon for a 'square go' during the fracas at the end of Wednesday's 0-0 draw at Easter Road.

Duffy admitted acting “immaturely” but insisted he would not use such language as he’s “not 12 years old”.

Lennon reacted furiously after ‘Ton attacker Kudus Oyenuga lunged in on Jordon Forster by the touchline.

Players and officials from both sides became involved in a melee, which ended with Oyenuga and Hibs skipper Darren McGregor red carded, and both managers sent to the stand.

Lennon later claimed that Duffy had asked for a “square go” during the bust up, which the Morton boss has now denied through a statement on the Greenock club’s official website.

It read: “Firstly, I would like to say that I watched the footage on television last night and, from my point of view, I was embarrassed when I saw my reaction.

“I am not going to get involved in a public debate with the Hibs manager, but what I would state is that I categorically, 100 per cent did not ask for a ‘square go’ or use anything even remotely like that term.

“Yes, I acted immaturely – but I’m not 12 years old.”
