Leith brewer celebrates Six Nations with new '˜Cross the Line' beer

As Scotland gear up to take on Wales at BT Murrayfield on Saturday for the RBS Six Nations, Stewart Brewing are toasting the occasion with the launch of a classic rugby bitter perfect for rugby fans and beer enthusiasts alike.

Jo Stewart, founder, commented: “We’d like to wish the Scotland team every luck this weekend. We will be cheering them on!

“We wanted to mark the occasion with a new beer that will add to an already exciting weekend for rugby fans and we think we’ve achieved that with Cross the Line. It’s a classic bitter with a balanced malty sweetness and a light fruity hop character.”

Cross the Line is now available in select bars across Scotland and to take home from Stewart’s Dockside Tap in Leith, Edinburgh.

The Loanhead brewers have also launched Stewart’s Lager, created to appeal to drinkers looking for a lighter beer from the Stewart Brewing range.

Pale straw in colour with a dense white head, Saaz hops lend it a refreshing earthy citrus character.

Drinkers will be able to taste the new lager in select Edinburgh bars. It will also be available to take home from the Stewart Brewing brewery shop in Loanhead and the new Stewart’s Dockside Tap shop in Leith.

Jo said: “We wanted to create a classic tasting lager which is crisp, refined and refreshing. It’s a very moreish beer which tastes delicious with a variety of food from chicken to seafood and cheese platters to hotdogs, so it’s very versatile. We’re sure Stewart’s Lager will delight our current fans and introduce new drinkers to our range of craft beers.”
