Rugby: Windfall for Lothian clubs

Lismore and Preston Lodge have been handed massive boosts ahead of their opening fixtures in rugby’s RBS East One this coming weekend after they were awarded large sums of money from the Scottish Government’s facilities fund.

The Inch Park Community Sports Club and Lismore have been given £50,000 to help expand sports facilities in the city, while Preston Lodge have been given the same substantial amount to build all-weather facilities. The two clubs were successful along with Adrossan Academicals, Ayr, Biggar, Cambuslang, Duns, Irvine, Kirkcaldy, Marr, Paisley and Perthshire with the dozen clubs taking away a sum totalling £550,000 from the fund.

Scottish Rugby’s Chief Executive Jock Millican said: “We are delighted that 12 of our grassroots clubs have secured investment funding through the partnership between Scottish Rugby, sportscotland and the Scottish Government’s Cashback for Communities initiative.”
