Scotland settle for 22nd spot at European Under-18 Championship

Capital-based coach Craig Nicol and his Scottish junior men's basketball team of mainly Edinburgh players had to be content with 22nd place '“ one place above Ireland '“ in the European Under-18 Championship, which finished in Skopje last night.

Having beaten Albania in their group match, the Scots went down narrowly 71-68 to the same opponents in the play-offs yesterday after trailing 62-68 with 30 seconds left.

Edinburgh Kings point guard Konrad Kantorski had a shot to tie with three seconds left but could not convert, though he ended up with 11 points.
