Snooker: MacGillivray edged out in Scottish snooker final bid

Granton snooker ace Craig MacGillivray narrowly failed in his attempt to retain the Scottish National Snooker Championship, losing 7-4 to Scotland’s No. 1 ranked player James McBain (Glasgow) at the Locarno Snooker Club.

In a high quality final with six 50+ breaks and the match even at 3-3 after six frames, McBain showed the greater consistency to secure the title.

McBain’s victory was at the head of a sweep of titles this weekend. Pat McKinney defeated Perth’s Scott Dunbar to win the Masters title. Dylan Craig came from 4-2 behind to win in the last three frames against Joseph McLaren (Clydebank) in the Under-16 event sponsored by JMConservatories.co.uk. Chris Totten continued to show his potential with a 3-0 victory over Finlay Thomson (Dumfries) in the Under-14 final, while David Sneddon beat Jimmy Malcolm in the billiards final.
