Tennis: Coach’s high hopes for Emma

Oklahoma University women’s tennis coach David Mullins has welcomed the addition of rising Portobello star Emma Devine to his squad for next summer on a four year scholarship.

Emma, the 16-year-old the Scottish No. 3 woman player who has occasionally been turning out for the Next Generation team and who travels to school in Stirling to take advantage of local university facilities, will move to the USA in a bid to boost chances of reaching the women’s professional tour.

Mullins says of the Great Britain Under 16 Masters champion, who has a junior world ranking of 290: “Emma comes to college with some big weapons in her game and an eagerness to get better. She will not be fazed by the college game one bit.”
