Volleyball: Ten Edinburgh players in Scotland squad for European Championships

CITY of Edinburgh’s importance to Scottish volleyball is demonstrated by the fact that ten current players have been named in Scotland’s training squad for next year’s European “C” Championship finals.

Scotland’s biggest club has not only won every honour in the men’s game – a feat completed by winning the Scottish Cup last season – but has played a significant role in developing many of the sport’s top players.

This weekend Edinburgh seek to maintain their unbeaten record at home to City of Glasgow Ragazzi.

Matches between the two teams are always keenly fought affairs and tomorrow’s clash at Queensferry High (2.30pm) is likely to be no different.

Kilmarnock Blaze, who lead the league ahead of Edinburgh on set difference, come east to face Edinburgh Jets.

City of Edinburgh women had star player Mel Coutts back at training this week after a back injury and they host Su Ragazzi tomorrow.

Elsewhere, NUVOC travel to face newly-promoted Aberdonia and Edinburgh Jets take on unbeaten Troon Team Ayrshire.
