Review: One Spa Edinburgh launches luxury Temple Spa Champagne and Truffles Treatment
I usually feed booze and chocolates directly into my face.
However, with the newest offerings from One Spa, those sybaritic goodies will be applied to the outside instead.

I’m one of the first to try their Champagne and Truffles Deluxe Treatment, £155 for 80 minutes, and, though its name is also a shorthand for luxury, it does include the eponymous ingredients.
Among other experiences, exclusive to the Capital, there’s also the Rose Quartz and Truffle Body Massage or All About the Glow Facial.

Hide AdI start my visit with a trip up to the Escape at One thermal experience (£75 for up to three hours). The last time I was here was pre-lockdown. As well as the Rock Sauna, Rooftop Hydropool, Crystal Steam Room and other familiars, it’s my first time in the new Himalayan Dry Salt Room and Relaxation Room.
I try not to get carried away, and keep an eye on the time. As the clock strikes 12, I make my way downstairs, in gown and flip-flops.
Gemma is my therapist today. Once I’m on the treatment bed and, after I take deep breaths of Temple Spa Inhalation Essence and cooling balm is applied to my feet and calves, she starts with a ‘half back massage’. Two smooth palm-sized hot stones are rolled into my muscles, using wave-like motions.

There’s no time wasted when it comes to the facial. The deep cleanse features various lotions, as well as tiny vibrating brushes, and eye make-up is properly removed, which is rare. Next is a toner, which contains glycolic acid, since I’d asked for my skin to look radiant.
I’m scrubbed with a thick potion that smells like lavender, then it’s removed with warm flannels, and the first of three masks goes on. This Oxygen Peel is foamy and bubbles on my skin.

Hide AdWhile each mask works, there’s a scalp rub and, between each application, Gemma performs deep facial massage. I didn’t know there was so much tension in my jaw, until she smooths it away. There’s also lots of work around my eyes, which tree pollen season has made puffy.
Mask two is anti-aging Trufflesque, which contains truffles and diamond dust. It’s painted on and, although I can’t see it at the time, I later find out that it’s gold, so I must’ve resembled C-3PO.
The final mask is a cooling alginate one, which solidifies. While it works, my hands and arms are exfoliated with Sugar Buff, then massaged, before the face mask is expertly peeled off in one go.

I feel ridiculously spoiled, especially after a glass of fizz and a chocolate truffle in the relaxation room. Second helpings, please.
