Edinburgh Festivals boss eyes growth

The leader of the body which oversees development of the Capital's festivals has revealed they are looking to expand their footprint across Edinburgh in a bid to ensure future growth.

Julia Amour, director of Festivals Edinburgh, said many events had plans to increase their reach within the city.

Her comments come as leaders of the Edinburgh festivals work to ensure they maintain their world-leading position.

She said: “Many of the festivals are working on plans to expand their footprints further.

“Districts like Leith, which has strong links with the Mela and Jazz and Blues Festival – and where the Art Festival is this year displaying a full-size Dazzle Ship in the port – offer purpose-built and found space that would be ideal.”
