Edinburgh to hold inaugural summer solstice event

SCOTLAND’S Capital is set to mark the start of the summer with the inaugural West End Summmer Solstice festival.

The two-day event, beginning on June 22 in the city’s West End, will feature exclusive free performances from top comedians Fred MacAulay and Jen Brister (BBC 6 Music) plus internationally acclaimed musician Roddy Woomble, front man of hit rock band Idlewild and Emma Pollock of the Delgados.

The festival will also include an arts and crafts market, face painting, buskers, and children’s dance workshops.

A host of cultural events are also planned with emerging talent from the comedy, music, fashion and literature circuits lined up to appear.

Shoppers will be able to make the most of a vast array of special Summer Solstice discounts and offers, as well as extended opening hours across select stores including Odyssey Boutique and Marina Rinaldi. Plus fashion devotees can indulge in Style Masterclass hosted by celebrity stylist Lindsay Campbell.
