Franz Ferdinand singer’s fury at Wikipedia ‘nationalists’

A STAR singer who went to school in the Capital has complained that “nationalists” keep changing his Wikipedia entry to say he is English.

Franz Ferdinand’s Alex Kapranos has lived in Scotland for more than 30 years and refers to himself as Scottish.

But the 40-year-old, who was born in Gloucestershire, said internet users keep changing his entry on the free web encyclopaedia to make him an “English musician”.

Kapranos moved north when he was seven and went to primary school in Edinburgh.

He said: “How long do you have to live in a country before you are considered from there? I moved to Scotland aged seven. I’ve been there 33 years. Yet there are nationalists who ‘correct’ my Wikipedia page.”

His remarks came after official crime figures appeared to show anti-English racism had soared by 24 per cent in Scotland.
