The Horror Master comes to the Usher Hall

So it is perhaps fitting that the writer, director and producer of such disturbing titles as Assault on Precinct 13, The Fog, Escape from New York and Prince of Darkness to name a few, should choose to tour the Capital in October, days before the ancient festival of Samhain, the Feast of the Dead.

On Saturday, the man known as The Horror Master, accompanied on stage by his son Cody on synthesizer, godson Daniel Davies on guitar, John Spiker on bass, John Konesky on guitar, and Scott Seiver on drums, will bring his themes to life at the Usher Hall, his first ever performance in to the Capital.

Having just completed a highly successful US run of dates after receiving rave reviews for his festival debut at Primavera Sound in Barcelona, the 68-year-old is on a role.

Whether crafting dream like scores for worlds yet to come or sheering the nerves with discordant repeating notes, Carpenter’s music instantly conjures up memories of Michael Myers, ghost-filled fog and mirrors holding the gateway to hell.

But it won’t be just the classic that get an airing on Saturday.

Carpenter will also perform pieces from his two most recent albums Lost Themes and Lost Themes II, including the starkly haunting Utopian Façade, which has been released as a video, produced and directed by Gavin Hignight and Ben Verhulst.
