Local Buzz: BWANI JUNCTION

They’ve been invited to play festivals like T in The Park and Wickerman, they made the short-list for the Scottish Alternative Music Awards, and they were awarded a grant from Creative Scotland to record their first album with award-winning producer Paul Savage.

Made up of former Merchiston Castle pupils Fergus Robson, Jack Fotheringham, Rory Fairweather and Dan Muir, Bwani Junction have been described as “one of Scotland’s most promising new acts” by DF Concerts boss Dave Corbet, who is tipping them to be one of the breakthrough bands of 2012.

Bwani Junction first made headlines earlier this year when it was reported that a man burst into their gig at the Moorings pub and slammed an axe into the bar.

They were in the news again last month after their proposal to play a set for construction workers on the top of the Forth Bridge was turned down by Balfour Beatty and Network Rail - the band having wanted to promote new track Two Bridges in style.

Tonight, they share a stage with Miniature Dinosaurs and Blank Canvas in a night of live bands hand-picked by BBC Radio Scotland’s Vic Galloway.
