Robbie's heavy entertainment is Murrayfield bound
HE'S the King of Pop as far as many are concerned and tomorrow he plays his first Capital gig for 14 years.
Robbie Williams is back and set to entertain at Murrayfield Stadium tomorrow evening.
The concert is the fourth stop on his 34 date European tour The Heavy Entertainment Show Tour, sharing its name with his 2016 platinum album which was released to favourable reviews.
The pop stars twelfth solo tour, and his ninth solo appearance in Scotland, Williams last performed last in the Capital 2003 when he brought his Weekends of Mass Destruction Tour to town.
It’s currently a busy time for Williams who performed three nights in a row in Manchester last week, two were scheduled tour dates, the third, part of the One Love Manchester benefit concert hosted by Ariana Grande.
The Staffordshire singer certainly left an impression in the northern town, opening with his old band mates Take That and later becoming overwhelmed with emotion while singing Angels before looking to the crowd for support.
Williams also sang a Manchurian rendition of his hit song Strong changing the lyrics to ‘Manchester we’re strong, we’re strong, we’re strong.’
And he tweeted a photograph of the crowd; more than 50,000 people, with the caption ‘Manchester we’re strong #OneLoveManchester.’
Audience engagement is a staple of any Robbie Williams concert and will no doubt feature tomorrow when his support act for the evening will be legendary synth-pop duo Erasure, who released new album World Be Gone.
Security at Murrayfield will be more intensive than usual due to the terror attacks that took place in Manchester and London and Scottish Rugby officials have told fans to arrive at the Stadium early, in line with the new augmented security protocol.
Concert-goers are also advised to buy their train tickets in advance. Failing that, depart on a train as soon as possible so as to avoid congestion.
