SOREN SOLKAER - STARBIRD

TEXTURED and moody, the work of Søren Solkær has gained the 33-year-old an enviable reputation and fuelled his rise to astronomical heights in the world of international photography.

Famous for snapping stars of the rock variety, the Danish photographer brings an exhibition of his work to Edinburgh this month in the form of Starbird, a collection of portraits that range from deep and intimate studies to large format cinematic scenes shot in mind-blowing locations that have been featured in magazines such as Q, GQ, Arena, Rolling Stone and Wallpaper.

Starbird features portraits of Powersolo [pictured], Pete Doherty, David Lynch, Amy Winehouse, Arctic Monkeys, Lily Allen, Franz Ferdinand, The White Stripes, PJ Harvey, Bjørk and Sir Paul McCartney. A must-see for rock fans and art lovers alike.

SARAH MILLICAN - THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLICAN

FLAVOUR of the month on the comedy circuit at the moment, Sarah Millican brings her latest tour to the Edinburgh Playhouse tomorrow and Saturday.

Yes, after selling out all 120 dates on her debut tour, the South Shields stand-up is back on the road with her 2011 Edinburgh Fringe show, Thoroughly Modern Millican.

So, if you missed her at the Assembly Hall and have ever wondered how to make a home-made treadmill, pondered the practicalities of an orgy, or even queried what to do when you don’t like parties but do like party food, now’s your chance to find out. Although, take note, the show is recommended for 16+
