Theatre Alba go Dancing

IF you happened to miss Theatre Alba’s Fringe run of Brian Friel’s Dancing At Lughnasa - fear not. The East Lothian-based company are now taking their successful show to Musselburgh’s Brunton Theatre next week.

An Olivier and Tony Award-winning play, the story is set in rural Donegal in 1936. Here, the five Mundy sisters, with barely a penny between them, become embroiled in a domestic situation involving Catholicism and paganism.

The two men of the household - brother Jack, a retired missionary priest, and Michael, the seven-year-old of the youngest sister - all add extra emotional weight and tender emotion to the tale, which is directed by Charles Nowosielski.

Brunton Theatre, Musselburgh, Sunday, 7.30pm, £11, www.bruntontheatre.
