Organised by Keith Armour, the two day event will raise money for CHAS, the Children’s Hospice Association Scotland.

A year in the planning, the not-for-profit convention will bring a host actors and actresses from sci-fi movies and TV programmes to the city.

This year’s guests include Dave Prowse, the original Darth Vader and known to a generation as the Green Cross Code Man.

Also attending will be Virginia Hey, the Warrior woman from Mad Max 2 and Priest from Farscape, as well as actors from Doctor Who, Game of Thrones, Harry Potter, Star Wars and more.

Armour explains: “Guests will sign autographs and take part in stage talks over the course of the weekend while attendees will have the chance to take part in Jedi Training Academies, and How to Draw sessions.”

There will also be photo opportunities with life-size props such as Jabba the Hutt, The Doctor’s Tardis, Iron Man’s Armour Pod, Thor’s Hammer, and cars from Transformers.

For those into Thunderbirds, Captain Scarlet and other Gerry Anderson series, there will be a display of puppets and vehicles.

“If art is your thing, there will be a Star Wars art exhibit from Glasgow 3D artist Mike Boyle where he takes Edinburgh locations and landmarks then adds an art invasion of Star Wars spacecraft such as the Millennium Falcon or Luke’s Landspeeder,” adds Armour.

There will also be a chance for fans of Harry Potter to get close to nature courtesy of Owl Magic, who will bring a number of owl species to the event, but beware of the patrolling Daleks.
