Edinburgh nightclub crowned best in Scotland at awards bash
An Edinburgh nightclub has scooped a top national gong at the Scottish Entertainment & Hospitality Awards.
Why Not Nightclub on George Street triumphed in the Best Nightclub category at the glitzy awards bash held in Glasgow on Sunday evening.
Opening in 1997, the New Town nightspot beat ten other hopefuls to bag their tenth national gong in just five-and-a-half years.
It is also the third time the establishment has won this particular award.
Area Manager and former General Manager at Why Not, George Street, Jay Glass, praised Why Not’s staff and said the award was the result of lots of hard work and dedication behind the scenes.
“It’s great, really good for the team,” he said, “It’s the third time we’ve won this award, which is just brilliant for Edinburgh”.
He added: “Myself, General Manager Kirstin Kane and the entire team of staff work very hard to ensure we are always evolving our business with the latest music, drinks and trends.
“I have just returned from the Las Vegas Nightclub and Bar Convention where I was given a private tour of some of the most incredible nightclubs in the world and I had the opportunity to meet the management team there and ask them lots of questions about how they run their business.
“This information has been really helpful and there are some big changes happening later this year at Whynot as a result of that.”
Situated beneath the Dome Bar & Grill, Why Not boasts four luxurious party booths, Scotland’s only LED Room and a fully heated outdoor courtyard backing on to Rose Street.
The Vault VIP Room is located in a former bank vault, reflecting the heritage of the Dome on George Street.
Founded in 1847, the neoclassical building was the former headquarters of the Commercial Bank of Scotland.
