Forth One play Sky in Edinburgh charity football match

SKY workers will take on a team from Forth One on Sunday in a charity football match to raise money for local children.

The match at Spartans’ Ainslie Park will collect funds for Forth’s Cash for Kids ‘Mission Christmas’ appeal.

There will also be a half-time penalty shoot-out for children and families are urged to go along and support both teams.

The Forth 1 Allstars team will feature ex-Hibs and Hearts players and a few familiar footballing faces.

Mark Martin, Forth One presenter and Allstars manager, said: “We want to keep the magic of Christmas alive and help children locally who would otherwise wake up with nothing Christmas Day.

“Mission Christmas gets thousands of new applicants every year and our charity strive to make sure local kids don’t miss on a visit from Santa.

“All the money raised at this game will help buy gifts for children and young people living in poverty through no fault of their own this festive season.”

Former Edinburgh City goalkeeper Steven Vannet, who will take charge of the Sky team, added: “Sky and service provider Mitie are keen supporters of local charity and to help Forth 1’s appeal was an easy choice to make.”

Kick-off is 4.15pm and entry is by donation.
