Pet Shop Boys will headline Edinburgh’s famous Hogmanay celebration in the Gardens on New Years Eve. The performance comes a few months after their stellar show at Glastonbury.

Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe - who formed the 80s’ most successful pop group - have had a busy 2022. After selling out the OVO Hydro arena in Glasgow, they joined New Order for their North American Unity tour and will now round it all off with a show at Edinburgh’s Hogmanay.

The duo - who last played the New Year’s Eve concert in 2013 - said: “2022 has been an incredible year, when we have loved being able to perform again after the restrictions arising from the pandemic. We can’t think of a better way to round off this year than by celebrating the start of 2023 in Edinburgh.”

Pet Shop Boys will join a much-adored list of artists who have headlined Edinburgh’s NYE party before, including Madness, UB40, Blondie, Culture Club, The Proclaimers, Paolo Nutini, and Biffy Clyro.

The festival is set to return for the first year since its 2020 & 2021 events were cancelled amid the COVID pandemic. Penny Dougherty and William Burdett-Coutts, from Unique Assembly, said: “As we celebrate the return of Edinburgh’s Hogmanay, we are delighted to welcome back one of the greatest pop duos of all time and one of the festival’s most successful headliners – Pet Shop Boys.”

Pet Shop Boys will headline the Edinburgh Hogmanay celebrations with a special Dreamworld: The Greatest Hits Live show on December 31 at the Gardens. Tickets will be available on October 28 at 10am via the Edinburgh Hogmanay website.
