People online were happy to see the yacht up and running again and some reminisced on their past visits.Praising the Leith attraction, which is accessed via Ocean Terminal Shopping Centre, David Francis Castle wrote on Twitter: “Such a beautiful piece of royal history to visit.“We loved it when we did the tour in February last year.”In addition to its role as the Queen’s residence at sea, the Royal Yacht Britannia was also designed to double as a hospital during wartime, though it never served this purpose. The Britannia sailed over one million miles during its more than four decades of service, the equivalent of having travelled around the world once every year.

It also had the capacity to generate fresh water from the sea.

Tickets to the Royal Yacht Britannia can be purchased online or on location.
