Soul of the Junction SCIO received the funding from Barchester’s Charitable Foundation following support from Queens Manor Care Home, which is also based in Barnton.

Chairperson Silviya Savova welcomed representatives from Queens Manor to visit the site and see progress on the building, which is currently being renovated for future community use.

The charity has been working to save and transform the former facility after it was closed indefinitely. Following discussions with local councillors, plans began to take shape for a new hub that will provide activities, events and support for people across the community.

Once complete, the centre will include meeting spaces, a soft play area and an AI sensory room, alongside facilities designed to bring people of all ages together.

Ms Savova said: “We are thrilled to receive this donation from Queens Manor Care Home and will keep them updated on the progress of the building.”

Queens Manor has developed links with the local community through events and activities involving residents and neighbouring groups.

General manager Margaret-Ann said: “We are always keen to support local charities wherever we can.

“The values of Soul of the Junction SCIO are very close to our hearts, and we are delighted to be able to contribute towards such an important community project.”

Soul of the Junction SCIO will continue fundraising and developing the hub as work on the building progresses.
