Livingston community garden blooms thanks to housebuilder's funding
A Livingston community garden is set to flourish thanks to a £1,500 donation from Cala Homes (East), helping to support its ongoing growth and development.

The investment from the local housebuilder will help Livingston Village Community Garden grow as it looks to engage with more volunteers who enjoy gardening whilst adding more plants, flowers and greenery to the garden.
The support comes through Cala’s Community Pledge initiative for its nearby Pinefields development located just off Charlesfield Road. The latest funding will allow the group’s volunteers to purchase brand-new planters and once they have planning permission create additional planting areas to further enhance the community space.

“Investing in green spaces and sustainable community projects is hugely important to us.” said Elaine Carrigan, Sales and Marketing Director at Cala Homes (East).
“This community garden is far more than a space for locals to enjoy – it’s a valuable, shared space where volunteers and residents can come together, connect with nature and get involved in gardening and learn more about environmental responsibility.
“We’re proud to support the garden’s continued growth and look forward to seeing it flourish in the years to come.”
The Livingston Village Community Garden was set up by Haleh Nather with the help of local volunteers in 2024 and is for everyone to use, get involved with and encourage people to find their love for plants. It is part of the West Lothian Climate Action.
Haleh Nather, Chair of the group, expressed her gratitude for the donation. She said: “We really appreciate Cala Homes (East) choosing to invest in a project that directly benefits locals and encourages sustainability for the whole community.
“Our volunteers generously give so much of their time into maintaining this growing local space, so this donation will help us continue to enhance and preserve it for everybody to enjoy.”
Cala’s Community Pledge goes beyond planning expectations by supporting local community groups and organisations throughout the lifecycle of the development, and in collaboration with the community to ensure local needs are addressed.
