MP joins local volunteers at Spring Clean Scotland effort in West Lothian

The litter pick, organised by the community group, brought together 13 volunteers who collected an impressive 60 bags of waste, leaving the area “spotless” following their efforts.

West Lothian Litter Pickers are a volunteer-led group committed to tackling litter and improving the local environment. Their work spans communities across the Livingston constituency and beyond, with regular clean-ups helping to protect green spaces and instil pride in local areas.

Speaking after the event, Gregor Poynton MP said:

“Joining the team at Nettlehill Road was a great experience and a real testament to the community spirit we have here in West Lothian. The West Lothian Litter Pickers are an outstanding group of volunteers who give up their time to make a visible difference to our local environment.

“Collecting 60 bags of litter in a single session shows both the scale of the challenge and the impact that committed local people can have when they come together.

“I want to thank everyone who took part, as well as those supporting the group’s efforts, including Davina for keeping the team going with much-needed tea and coffee.”

The Nettlehill Road clean-up marked the final Keep Scotland Beautiful-supported group pick of the campaign, with volunteers now encouraging others to take part individually before the Spring Clean Scotland reporting deadline.

Mr Poynton added:

“There’s still time for people across the constituency Livingston and West Lothian to get involved. Even filling a single bag helps. This is about all of us taking pride in where we live and playing our part to keep our communities clean and welcoming.”
