In our latest round-up of shows at this year’s Edinburgh Festival Fringe, we’re taking a look at the top theatre shows in town in just a matter of weeks time.
From the award-winning producers of Fleabag and Baby Reindeer, I’m Almost There by New York star of stage and screen Todd Almond (Girl From The North Country, Gossip Girl ) is a rueful, hilarious and poignant modern love story in song about a man crossing a sea of doubts to find happiness…and good coffee. There are also thought-provoking plays about Palestine and a theatre/ concert show about Mary Queen of Scots. Mary: A Gig Theatre show is a stirring depiction of Mary Queen of Scots' story, told through bold, new gig theatre.
There is also the world premiere of new play V.L. from award-winning writers Kieran Hurley and Gary McNair. V.L. is another raucous and riotous comedy from the Fringe First Award-winning writers of Edinburgh Festival smash-hit Square Go, about young boys trying to navigate peer pressures, sexual anxieties, and social status in the chaotic hormonal pressure cooker of a small-town school.

17. Failure Project
Following on from the success of her Edinburgh debut 7 years ago, BAFTA nominee Yolanda Mercy (Quarter Life Crisis) is back with the world premiere of new theatre show Failure Project. Failure Project is a “Comedy drama…Or “dramedy” about Ade. Ade is a successful writer, or so it seems. She has everything she has ever wanted; her career is flying, she’s (kinda) moved out of her mums house, her situationship isn’t as complicated as she expected. Life is perfect?! But things don’t always go how you plan, and Ade is about to find that out? Failure Project, at Summerhall, Anatomy Lecture Theatre. August 1-11, 13-18 and 20-26. 1.30pm. Tickets: £17/£14.50. | Michelle Mangan Communications and PR Photo: Michelle Mangan Communications and PR

18. V.L.
The producers of Fleabag, Baby Reindeer and Kathy and Stella Solve a Murder today announce the world premiere of V.L., another raucous and riotous comedy from the Fringe First Award-winning writers of Edinburgh Festival smash-hit Square Go, about young boys trying to navigate peer pressures, sexual anxieties, and social status in the chaotic hormonal pressure cooker of a small-town school. Max and Stevie are just two wee guys trying to survive in the cosmic chaos of an ordinary Scottish secondary school. But to survive, sometimes you need to triumph. And triumph you need to not be a sad wee loser wi no mates. And as everyone knows, you'll always be a sad wee loser wi no mates as long as you're a VL. V.L., Paines Plough Roundabout @ Summerhall, August 1-26, 8.10pm. Tickets: From £10 | Mihaela Bodlovic Photo: Mihaela Bodlovic

This exhilarating piece of new writing will thrill Edinburgh’s Fringe audiences this August. The State Of Grace, at Assembly Rooms (The Drawing Room), August 1-24, (Not 7,13 or 20), 6.50pm. 20. Solve It Squad
US stage and screen sensations Tin Can Bros bring their hit musical Solve it Squad straight from LA and Off Broadway to the UK, in the company's Edinburgh Fringe debut. A group of former kid detectives return to the scene of their greatest unsolved case: the gruesome murder of their talking dog, Cluebert. Can an ambitious narcissist, a lovable doofus, a skittish sad-sap, and a scheming brainiac overcome their traumatic past to save the day one last time? From the creators of Spies Are Forever and founding members of Team StarKid ( A Very Potter Musical) comes a zany riff on Scooby Doo about friendship, second chances, and all the ways fame can muck you up. Solve It Squad, at Assembly George Square Studios (Studio Two), August 1 - 25 (not 7 and 19), at 6.40pm.
