9. Outlander, 2014
The gripping TV series, which tells the story of a 1945 British Army nurse transported back in time to the 18th century, saw some of the capital used in filming. One of the country's oldest working meal mills at Preston Mill in East Lothian is used in season one, while Hopetoun House in South Queensferry plays the stately home of the Duke of Sandringham. 10. The Angels’ Share, 2011
Ken Loach’s beloved modern Scottish classic features shots of the capital throughout. The comedy follows the journey of four friends who try to secure the motherload of money through the world of high end Scotch whisky.
