New Edinburgh-based crime drama based on novel series 'Department Q' set for Netflix release next month
and on Freeview 262 or Freely 565
‘Department Q’, which is available to stream from May 29, has an all-star cast including Trainspotting and Line of Duty actor Kelly MacDonald, Edinburgh-based hit BBC drama Guilt actors Mark Bonnar and Jamie Sives, as well as Downton Abbey star Matthew Goode - who plays the lead role of Detective Chief Inspector Carl Morck - an “English detective who gets under the skin of everyone around him”.

This new Netflix series is an adaptation of the novels of the same name by Danish author Jussi Adler-Olsen, although the new television series is sometimes shortened to ‘Dept. Q’. Filming took place in and around Edinburgh last summer.

The Netflix series will see the author’s original stories transported from the Danish Capital Copenhagen to Scotland’s Capital city.
The series revolves around Carl Morck, a former top-rated detective in Edinburgh assigned to a new cold case whilst wracked with guilt following an attack that left his partner paralysed and another police officer dead.

Upon returning to work, he’s put in charge of a brand-new police unit: the Department Q of the show’s title, tasked with investigating cold cases as part of a PR effort for the Scottish police force.
