Matt Brooks is an Assistant Editor at NationalWorld, looking after a team of writers specialising in money, TV and film, gaming, entertainment news, offbeat internet culture, big events, and sports content.
With more than 10 years editorial experience across news, entertainment and sports departments for various National World publications including the Derbyshire Times, Mansfield Chad and Sheffield Star, he moved to a central team and produced regional and national work published in The Scotsman, Yorkshire Post, and Portsmouth News among others. His journalism highlights so far include covering a cup final at Wembley Stadium, interviewing England's 1966 World Cup final hero Geoff Hurst and meeting the now King Charles III on a royal press trip at The School of Artisan Food in Welbeck.
Born and bred in Nottingham, he completed a masters degree in journalism at Nottingham Trent University and still lives close to the city he calls home.
Away from work, he likes to spend time with friends and family, getting out on the bike or down to the local golf course, and can sometimes be seen among the City Ground crowd supporting Nottingham Forest following their return to the Premier League after what feels like a lifetime.
