Date announced for Edinburgh’s first Lego store to open in the St James Quarter

With the Capital’s first ever LEGO store set to open in the brand new St James Quarter on June 24, the company has brought a touch of magic to the Royal Mile, by adding a fourth phone box alongside the famous trio, created entirely from Lego bricks.

The new Edinburgh store will be the Lego Group’s second store in Scotland and the 18th in the UK.

Ahead of the launch of the store, the LEGO Group brought a twist to the iconic Royal Mile leading up to Edinburgh Castle. Alongside the existing trio of red phone boxes, fourth phone box, crafted entirely from Lego bricks took pride of place and delighted passers-by.

For those wanting to catch a glimpse of the famous fourth phone box can head to St James Quarter from 24 June, where for a month, it will be moved to different spots around the complex for shoppers to seek out.

The brand-new state-of-the-art store will be located in the St James Quarter and will be packed full of Lego sets and unique activities that are only available in Lego retail outlets, alongside a unique build that will exclusively be on display in the store from the opening date.

The store will have its very own pick-a-brick wall, a build a minifigure tower as well as the widest selection of the latest products including: The Lego Friends Apartment, The Lego Porsche 911, The Lego Space Shuttle Discovery and Lego Winnie The Pooh. Within the store there will be regular exciting activities taking place including make-and-take experiences and many more for children and adults alike.

Alison Wood, Lego Stores UK, Benelux & Scandinavia district senior manager said: “We know there are many loyal Lego fans in Edinburgh, so we are thrilled to be able to bring the store experience to this amazing city. We cannot wait to welcome the local community through our doors to enjoy exclusive in-store experiences, brand new products and endless activities.”

The new store will offer VIP members a suite of exclusive in-store benefits, including exclusive gifts with purchase, double-points events and much more.

To sign up, locals simply need to register for free at the Lego website. To mark the stores opening, there will be a whole host of exclusive promotions running between June 24 and June 27.

The first 250 people visiting the store and spending £75 will receive a unique Lego store associate minifigure and a customised ‘Lego Store Edinburgh’ tile.
