The new St James Centre's cranes will start coming down at the start of December as construction ramps up to get the new shopping destination finished by October 2020.

The cranes, which have become a much-loved fixture for many on Edinburgh's skyline, will start to be taken down on the week commencing December 9.

Over the next ten months they will gradually come down before disappearing from the Capital skyline altogether.

The cranes have been in place since March 2018, meaning they will have graced the city skyline for more than two years by the time they are fully taken down.

The St James Centre is on target to be open by October 2020.
