78 more people have died in the last 24 hours across Scotland, while 357 new coronavirus cases have been recorded in the Lothians.

A total number of 2,649 new cases were reported yesterday across the country.

While 357 were recorded in the Lothians, 660 were in Greater Glasgow and Clyde, 389 in Lanarkshire and 302 cases were recorded in Tayside.

All of the remaining cases were recorded across nine other health board areas.

To date, 100 people are being treated in intensive care with recently confirmed Covid-19 which is five more than the figure reported yesterday.

1,467 people are in hospital having tested positive for the virus which is an increase of 83 from yesterday’s figure.

Since the start of the outbreak a total of 143,715 people in Scotland have tested positive for coronavirus.

With today’s additional 78 deaths, the total death toll in the country is 4,779.
