Coronavirus in Scotland: 108 new cases in the Lothians as country records 41 deaths and 771 new cases in the past 24 hours

A total of 108 cases of covid-19 have been reported in the Lothians in the last 24 hours as Scotland sees a rise of 771 new cases and 41 coronavirus deaths since yesterday.

This takes the total number of positive covid cases recorded in the Lothians to 12,851.

Of the new 771 cases across Scotland , 247 were confirmed in Greater Glasgow and Clyde, 156 in Lanarkshire and 108 in the Lothians.

To date, 1,197 people are being treated for covid in hospital, decrease of 11 from yesterday, and 84 people are in intensive care, the same as yesterday, having recently tested positive for the virus.

Out of 11,316 new tests that reported results, 8.6% of these (969) were positive.

Since the start of the outbreak a total of 1,143,099 people in Scotland have been tested at least once.

Of these people, a total of 90,081 have tested positive and 1,053,018 were confirmed negative.

3,544 people have died who have tested positive for the virus.

5,135 deaths have been registered in Scotland where covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate up to November 15.

42% of covid registered deaths related to deaths in care homes, 51% were in hospitals and 7% were at home or non-institutional settings (as at 15 November).

R number estimates are now between 0.8 and 1.
