Coronavirus in Scotland: 752 new positive cases in the last 24 hours

A total of 752 people have tested positive for Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, according to the data released on Monday, 25 January which represents 8.6 per cent of all those tested.

The total number of people in Scotland who have contracted coronavirus now stands at 172,953.

Of the positive cases in the last 24 hours 224 were in Greater Glasgow and Clyde, 138 were in Lanarkshire, 87 were in Ayrshire and Arran and the remaining cases were spread across 10 other health boards.

To date, 151 people are in intensive care with recently confirmed coronavirus, which is six fewer than Sunday and 2,016 people are being treated in hospital having recently tested positive for the virus, an increase of six.

Four new deaths have been reported in the last 24 hours, however the figure is likely to be low as registry offices are not open on the weekend.

The death toll under the Scottish Government measure, that is of those who have tested positive for the virus in the past 28 days, currently stands at 5,709.

The Scottish Government has confirmed 415,402 people have received the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccination.
