Coronavirus in Scotland: Pupil at Lasswade High in Midlothian tests positive for Covid-19

It comes after positive cases were confirmed at Granton Primary and Balbardie Primary School.

A student at a Midlothian High school has tested positive for Covid-19.

The pupil of Lasswade High School in Bonnyrigg is now self isolating. The school say that all other students should attend the school as normal.

In a statement posted on their website today (Tuesday), the school say that they are working with NHS Lothian and a small number of close contacts of the pupil have been contacted to self-isolate.

Their statement reads: “A student in the school has tested positive for COVID-19. We are working with NHS Lothian and a small number of close contacts of the case have been contacted to self-isolate. All other students should attend school as normal.

“If your child/young person should develop COVID symptoms: fever, new continuous cough, and/or a loss or change in sense of smell or taste, please call 0800 028 2816.”

It comes after it was revealed a total of 10,665 Scots pupils were absent from classes last Friday (August 21) for reasons related to Covid-19 – missing either all or part of the school day.
