Popular Edinburgh deli Victor Hugo launches home delivery service offering continental breakfasts, gourmet baguettes, burgers and cakes

A celebrated Marchmont deli has launched a takeaway and home delivery service during the Covid-19 lockdown featuring continental breakfasts, burgers, cakes, gourmet baguettes and hot drinks.

Victor Hugo Deli, an Edinburgh institution for more than 50 years, also has a mobile app available to download from their website with a menu and special offers showcasing produce from local suppliers, in a bid to help them during the pandemic.

New customers will still be able to enjoy all of their Victor Hugo favourites including the grilled pastrami on rye sandwich, syrup topped waffled and their signature freshly brewed coffee, with delivery direct to their door.

Other menu items include lasagne, salmon quiche, a choice of soups, baguettes and breakfast rolls.

A range of coffees, teas, soft drinks and alcoholic beveridges can also be purchased, with bags of coffee beans also available. Fresh vegetables are also avaiable to order.

The menu can be viewed on the website where customers can place their order. It is available 9am-5:15pm daily with last delivery at 4:30pm.

Victor Hugo Deli has been located on the corner of The Meadows, at Melville Terrace, since 1969. Last year, the deli opened a second premises in the city’s George Street.

The takeaway service is availabe from Melville Terrace (George Street is closed temporarily) and customers can call and pay for their order ahead of collection where the team will only allow three customers inside at any one time and ask that social distancing is adhered to when queueing.

Cupboard essentials will be available including fresh vegetables, bread, non-dairy milk, free range eggs, freshly squeezed orange and much more.

In addition to this, in partnership with Edinburgh Tea & Coffee and Bonally Farm Dairies, Victor Hugo is showing their support for the NHS with free coffee daily for all Edinburgh Sick Kids hospital staff.
