Nine-year-old girl cuts hair to make wigs for cancer sufferers

A NINE-year-old girl from Gullane has raised £900 for The Teapot Trust Charity by cutting-off her hair.

Loretto Junior School pupil, Isla Young not only had seven inches of hair cut-off to raise funds for her mother’s charity, The Teapot Trust, but also donated her hair for cancer charity, The Little Princess Trust.

The Teapot Trust is dedicated to providing professional art therapy in a medical environment to children coping with chronic illness and the Little Princess Trust provides real hair wigs for children with hair loss.

Philip Meadows, Head of Loretto Junior School, said: “We are all very proud of Isla and her selfless idea of having her long hair cut off for charity. She not only raised a lot of money for The Teapot Trust but also donated much needed hair for The Little Princess Trust.”

Laura and husband John Young founded the Teapot Trust in 2010 after seeing the gaps in the care of their late daughter Verity, who suffered from Lupus and also cancer.
