5. Salamander Street
One of the main arteries into regenerated Leith, Salamander Street used to be the location of a chemical works. It's thought to be named after the salamader lizard which people used to think (incorrectly) could survive being burned in a fire. Photo: Google Maps
6. Ann Street
One of Edinburgh's most prestigious addresses, the Stockbridge road was named after Ann Edgar, the wife of painter Sir Henry Raeburn who drew up the designs for the street in 1817. 7. Royal Circus

8. High Street
