Historic Environment Scotland (HES), which is responsible for more than 300 heritage sites, has announced plans for a phased reopening of its attractions, with 70 per cent to be open again by mid-September. The sites include both free to access and ticketed properties, with the reopening to start from 1 August. Here are 23 of the Scottish sites that are due to open in August and September.
13. Fort George

15. Huntly Castle
Located in Aberdeenshire, Huntly Castle was once the ancestral home of the chief of Clan Gordon, Earl of Huntly. It is open again from late August. Photo: Shutterstock
16. Inchcolm Abbey
Situated on an island in the Firth of Forth, this priory was founded by David I and the island is famed for its seals, wildlife and coastal defences. Open from late August. Photo: Shutterstock
