1. The fatally injured whale found beached at Brunstane Burn
An injured whale has died near a beach in Edinburgh following desperate attempts to save it. The Sowerby’s beaked whale was found beached at Brunstane Burn between Portobello Beach and Musselburgh Beach. The whale, which was wounded, unfortunately died just after Scottish SPCA rescue officers and volunteers from British Divers Marine Life Rescue tried to save it. The sea creature’s body has been sent off for post-mortem in an attempt to understand the circumstances surrounding the mammal’s death. Photo: Michael Reville / SWNS.COM
