5. Restalrig
Generally speaking, this one doesn't matter THAT much, but if you pronounce Restalrig the way it is spelled then you should know you are in fact wrong. It's "Ressel-rig". Photo: GARETH EASTON
6. Scott Monument
The Scott Monument, built in tribute to the writer Sir Walter Scott, has been called everything from the "Scotch" Monument, to the "Scots Monument" and even the "Scottish Monument". 7. Corstorphine
More a case of mispronunciation than misnaming, but one thing guaranteed to make an Edinburgh local scream inside is to hear the final syllable in Corstorphine pronounced as "fine". It is "Corstor-FIN", thank you very much. Photo: Julie Bull
